Rapper Wiz Khalifa’s performance at the Roof Music Center in Noblesville came to an abrupt end at around 10:30 p.m. Friday as people started fleeing the outdoor venue.
The Hamilton County Sheriff’s Office said in a release early Saturday that some of them shouted about a possible shootout, but no weapons were found.
The sheriff’s office said the unrest was first reported at 10:28 p.m. on Section 5 of the amphitheater’s lawn. The spectators – many of them young – began pouring out as a security response. All exits were opened in accordance with Roof’s emergency procedures, the release said.
The music stopped, and Khalifa and his band immediately left the stage.
Roof staff In the parking lot, some audience members were making cell phone calls. Others held each other in tears. Some fled to the fields adjacent to the venue.
The police searched the area and found no weapon, the release said.
Khalifa was about 45 minutes into his show as part of Vinyl Verse’s co-headlining tour with fellow rapper Logic. That was the last set of the night. Fed the God and 24kGoldn performed earlier in the evening.
Musician Keith Urban is scheduled to perform on The Roof on Saturday evening.
