Nadya Suleiman, better known as “Octomom,” showed off a rare photo of her kids in a back-to-school photo posted on Instagram.
The famous 14-year-old mother — who exclusively gave birth to octopuses in January 2009 — spoke about her now 13-year-olds in a post published Tuesday.
Suleiman said on Instagram, “First day of eighth grade. Proud of the kids for being kind, respectful and helpful to all our peers, teachers and staff.”
“You are an extraordinary role model for sixth and seventh graders, I love you,” she added with a heart emoji.

But the controversial mother has already hit back at critics.
The 47-year-old mother warned, “Side note to critics: His older siblings didn’t want me to post a picture of him on his first day. I respect his choices, so you should too.”
Octoplets – Nariah, Isaiah, Maliah, Jeremiah, Noah, Josiah, Jonah and Macai – were conceived through in vitro fertilization in 2008. His birth was an international media sensation.

Suleiman was already a single mother of six grown children when she gave birth to octopuses – with many critics claiming that she could not properly care for her family.
Suleiman led a tumultuous life after the birth of her octuplets—including filing for bankruptcy, making no-competition claims for malafide welfare claims, and checking into rehab for a Xanax addiction related to anxiety and exhaustion. He also had a brief adult film career and worked as a stripper.

“I hit rock bottom,” Suleiman said of his brief stint in sex work. “I sold my soul to the devil – temporarily.”

Since then, Suleiman has changed her maiden name to Natalie and regularly posts pictures of their happy family on social media. “God and family are my life,” reads his Instagram profile.
