R.I.P. RTX 3080 12GB – you shouldn't have existed in the first place

People think that Nvidia has stopped making the GeForce RTX 3080 12GB, which is the more powerful version of the RTX 3080 GPU.

It's important to note that this isn't an official announcement, so take this with a grain of salt.

However, GPU enthusiast @Zed Wang wrote on Twitter that Nvidia will stop making the card because of falling prices.

He said, "After the dramatic price drop of 3080Ti, 3080 12G now has the same price as 3080Ti, and that's why Nvidia decides to stop sending 3080 12G chips to the AIC."

nope, only 3080 12G is been stop produced. After the dramatic price drop of 3080Ti, 3080 12G now has the same price as 3080Ti and that’s why Nvidia decides to stop sending 3080 12G chips to the AIC.

Since the cryptocurrency market collapsed, cryptominers are selling inexpensive, secondhand graphics cards to recuperate their losses.

For the first time in almost two years, graphics cards are available at MSRP.
GPU manufacturers limit manufacturing before a new card generation to make room.

Older gear will still be important for some time, especially if current-gen cards experience a huge price drop when the RTX 4080 arrives, but Nvidia should focus on Lovelace cards.

According to PC Gamer, GPU pricing on Newegg are representative.

There are presently five options under $800, two of which are 12GB varieties, which may effect the expected effort to sell off existing 10GB versions of the card,

Which is an unattractive offer if the 12GB one is the same price.
